Conan live at Roadburn 2012 now available on Bandcamp on ‘name your price’ basis

Conan Live at Roadburn 2012 by Tony RobertsRoadburn Records is proud to present another installment in the ‘Live at Roadburn’-series. Conan’s Mount Wrath: Live At Roadburn 2012 is only available digitally for now. February/March will see the release of the CD and the vinyl around the end of March.

As we want as many people to hear these great sets we decided to do the digital version on a “pay what you want or ”name your price” basis.

For those who need the real thing and want to be sure to get one we have already put up both cd and vinyl up for pre-order. But beware: cd’s will be sent of in two weeks, vinyl at the end of March 2013.

If you have a small wallet due to the expensive holiday season, just pick it up for free and enjoy it! If you got some more money to spend and want to support the band and the label, you can name your own price. In the meantime the stream from Bandcamp itself is free, so if you don’t want to leave your email address when you want to download it for free, you can just enjoy the album from our Bandcamp site.

BONGRIPPER live at Roadburn 2012 2CD now available for pre-order

BongriYou’ve already had your chance to check out the Bongripper sets at Roadburn through Bandcamp (if not, do it now, it’s free!), now there’s the possibility to get your hands on the double cd version of the set. We will get the 2cd in in two weeks and will send them out then (2nd week of February).

And because the Conan Live At Roadburn CD will be out a few weeks later you can also order a package of the two for a nice price. The two bands will embark on a European tour in April. The package will be sent as soon as the Conan cd has arrived.

The cd’s are available in the Burning World webstore. Or if you live in the US, Canada check the Outer Battery Store to save on shipping (the Bongripper/Conan package will not be available there).

Check out a video of the first track Hail on the cd in video below:

Roadburn Records to release CONAN Mount Wrath:Live at Roadburn. Artwork revealed!

Conan Mount WrathRoadburn Records is proud to announce the third show from Roadburn 2012 to make it to an official release. After Chelsea Wolfe and Bongripper, the mighty Conan gets the Live At Roadburn treatment. The gig the British threesome did in Stage 1 was massive and left many a spectator standing with their mouths open and their ears closed. The band calls the album: Mount Wrath – Live At Roadburn.

But who can say it better than our good friend Adam Stone from Head of Crom Records who said it like this in his Roadburn Festival 2012 review for The Sleeping Shaman:

‘The band were in obviously ebullient form, stoked at playing this legendary festival and also being asked to join Sleep in Oslo, as selections from the new and monstrous ‘Monnos’ were intermingled with the huge and bulldozing force of classics like ‘Krull’ and ‘Older Than Earth’. Jon’s instantly likeable faraway vocals have never sounded more realised to these ears, and the audience were massively appreciative of Conan’s true wallop as the Stonehenge of amps that framed the band belched out universe-sized slices of ultra low-end hostility. A special mention too for Paul O’Neil’s expert drumming which represents the kind of versatility and intelligence that one would not usually expect with this most primal of genres, truly adding colour to the palette. By the end of the set I had cunningly worked my way into the centre of the room and believe me I was not regretful of the deoxygenated crush of Stage 01 – Conan had finally arrived on the international stage like the great wrecking ball that they have always been and I needed to be there to witness their special Roadburn moment. I toast thee lads – you are truly monolithic. ‘

The live recordings were mixed and mastered again by James Plotkin in New York just like he did for the Monnos album.

Artwork was once again in the hands of the master Tony Robert. Click below for a bigger version of the artwork:

Conan Live At Roadburn Sleeve

The album will be released digitally first at February 1st, the cd will be out one month later (accompagnied bij a secret release party somewhere… ) and the vinyl version will be out April 1st. In time for the Conan tour with the mighty Bongripper.

Till then you can listen to the set at the 3VOOR12 network:

Archival SPK live cd’s from 1981 and 1982/1983 released. Audio available

SPK LiveWe just received a large packet from the Greek Therapeutic/Adverse Recordings who apparoached us if we wanted to carry some SPK live cd’s in our distro. After listening to the sample discs the label sent we did not have to think twice and mailed back: hell yes! These are high quality soundboard (or at leas very near the sound board!) recordings of one of the seminal 80 industrial bands live. There are two cd’s available:

Apparently the artist Lustmord got a similar packet and he wrote this on his blog about the releases:  “The release is interesting for me personally as it includes a show where I was at the mixing desk (London, Heaven 1982) and another from when I was more actively involved in SPK as a member, performing material I had contributed too (London, Brixton April 1982).

The Brixton show is of particular interest from a historical perspective as it’s one of only two SPK shows where all but one of the tracks were ever performed (the other being at London’s Electric Ballroom a week or two later) and apart from the one track “In The Dying Moments”, none of the material from this period were ever recorded in the studio.

All ‘Live At Roadburn’ albums now for free on Bandcamp

Bong-Live-At-Roadburn-2010Why not start the new year in the spirit of sharing, we at the Burning World Headquarters thought. So from now on all ‘Live At Roadburn’ albums that we have the digital rights to will be free. Digitally that is. CD’s and vinyl still have to be bought  😉

So this is your chance to listen back to gigs by: Wolves In The Throne Room, Yob, White Hills, Bong, Wino among other. Put them on your iPod, burn em on a disc for your car, delete them if you don’t like them. It’s all fine with us.

The more people listen to the music we put out, the more we like it. So get over to the Burning World  Bandcamp page and download or listen away.

There is only minor one catch: if you pay nothing (which is fine by us) you’ll have to leave your mailaddress. We promise we will only mail you one with a big unsubscribe button in there so no harm done. Or maybe you’ll like to keep updated once a month on what’s going on at Roadburn Records and Burning World Records.

Check out Wino’s Live At Roadburn below for instance. It’s smokin’!

VATTNET VISKAR CD/EP ready for pre-order

Vattnet Viskar

After some delays due to artwork and production stuff we can finally put the Vattnet Viskar Ep up for pre-sale. It will be available on cd and two colors vinyl: gold and black.

Who are Vattnet Viskar we hear you ask? Well people who have followed Burning World Records through the years know that we love our black metal warm and textured. Like Wolves In The Throne Room, like Winterfylleth. Like Altar of Plagues.

And now Vattnet Viskar. The band has gotten a great review on the EP in the US (Pitchfork 7.9 among other) , is picked up by Century Media Records for their first full lenght en was chosen by Stereogum as one of the 40 best new bands of 2012. Read what the website had to say:

‘Numerous new American black metal bands have already left pretty substantial marks in 2012, from the traditional (Brookyn heshers Mutilation Rites) to the avant garde (Colorado psych-noise kvltists Xothist), but none emerged with such a fully formed and original voice as Vattnet Viskar. The New Hampshire quartet’s self-titled four-song debut EP is propulsive and brutal, yet ambient and expansive, in measures rarely seen from a genre that often expects its purveyors to be either/or. That EP closes with the band’s best song, “Barren Earth,” an insanely ambitious and vast 13 minutes that span a galaxy of sound. It was, coincidentally, the last song written for the EP, and perhaps an indicator of the leaps the band is prepared to make.’ (Stereogum)

If interested, get your order in on our online webshop.

And listen to the whole EP on the band’s Bandcamp page below and make sure you check out Barren Earth, the 13 minute closer of the EP:

Roadburn Records to release ULVER live record on vinyl in 2013

Roadburn Records is proud to present another installment in the Live at Roadburn series. The new year begins heavy with Bongripper Live At Roadburn 2012, and later Conan will follow. But we can safely say that the biggest title we can announce for 2013 is the set legendary Norwegian band Ulver played at Roadburn 2012. They played a special set of 60’s covers from 13th Floor Elevators, The Beau Brummels, Jefferson Airplane, Troggs among others.

As the band says themselves on their website: “Live at Roadburn is also around the corner. Roadburn Records will release a limited edition vinyl in one thousand copies next year, while we will release it digitally from our new webstore – store.jester-records.com – linked directly to from the app and our webpages.” (And when you are there check out the new Ulver app!)

The release is planned for an spring release. No date is set yet, but keep on checking these pages and we’ll keep you posted!
