Bong-Live-At-Roadburn-2010‘Damn this is good! Bong bring it, all right, quite recommended, definitely for fans of Om, SUNNO, Grails, Sylvester Anfang… and of course Bong. And bongs! Most if not all Bong releases thus far have been live, and this one is much less of a lo-fi recording than some of those, making for an essential document of Bong’s unique trance-inducing potency.’

Words of praise from our good friends at aQuarius Records in San Francisco. And they did that review on the audio from the cd alone. They didn’t even see the beautiful vinyl version that hase come in. Check the photo’s below and pick one up on black or gold vinyl and all in gatefold sleeve on our new site. Burning World Records to release Conan/Slomatics split in cd in September

Posted in 2011, Burning World Records on August 17th, 2011 by gira1971

conan-slomatics-cover2Recently, Liverpudlian heavyweights Conan announced that they had signed to Burning World/Roadburn Records (that’s us!) for the release of their soon to be recorded 2012 album. Following on from that, they are delighted to be able to announce that their recent split album with Northern Irish riff lords Slomatics will also be getting a release via Burning World Records (us again!).

Originally only available on a limited edition vinyl via Head of Crom (now all but sold out, but we still have some on blue vinyl in our store. Same goes for Conan’s debut Horseback Battle Hammer onn white vinyl), the crushing might of this doom tag team will soon be available on compact disc from our friends in Holland.

The split, which was mastered by James Plotkin (Khanate, Pelican, Earth) has already received rave reviews in its wax format. “People should be aware that the CD release was mixed with a lot more bottom end than the vinyl release – it’s ridiculously heavy.” comments Conan’s riff-mastermind, Jon Davis. The incredible artwork by Tony Roberts (Electric Wizard, Cathedral) can be seen on the left.

Pre-order will be up in about two weeks.

Wardruna – Runaljod gap var Ginnunga 2LP finally here. Pics available!

Posted in 2011, Burning World Records on August 14th, 2011 by gira1971

Wardruna Runaljod gap var Ginnunga 2LP SleeveIt took a while but now it’s finally here: Wardruna’s dark folk masterpiece Runaljod-gap var Ginnunga on double vinyl, packed in a trifold sleeve and with a nice booklet as companion. Released by Burning World Records in cooperation with Alone Records from Spain.

As Einar Kvitrafn of Wardruna describes the album:
Runaljod – gap var Ginnunga is the first part in the Runaljod trilogy. Each album features eight runes of the Elder Futhark, but not in accordance with the order of the three aettirs (families), which is most common when working with this futhark. Many of the recordings have taken place outdoors at locations relevant to the different runes. We have primarily used old, historical instruments such as self-made frame drums and ceremonial drums, mouth harp, tagelharpe (‘viking fiddle’), flutes, goat horns, tongue horns and Hardanger fiddle. Also more unconventional inputs like trees, stones, bones, water, fire etc. are employed to enhance the nature of the rune being ‘portrayed’.

We’ve made two versions of the album: one in white and the other one in black vinyl. White is limited to 100 copies, black to 400. On our new site you can order both version at once with a nice discount.

Order Wardruna – Runaljod gap var Ginnunga 2LP.
